Which 52,577 Medicare Enrollments Disappeared Last Quarter?
Medicare catalogued its quarterly provider enrollment drop on Monday. Net growth of 51,097 records hides 52,577 enrollment IDs that left the file, a DME supplier count going the wrong way, and hospice shrinking in two files at once.
The file sat on a CMS server for nineteen days before the catalog admitted it existed.
Medicare's quarterly public provider enrollment extract was written on September 30. Its catalog entry is dated October 19, along with sixteen sibling files whose own write dates run from October 1 through October 7.
So the Q4 drop is a Monday event by the only timestamp that makes it findable, which puts it inside this radar's window and nowhere in last week's.
That is a different dataset from the one we ran on the 18th. That post counted the weekly PECOS pending-application queues, the applications still waiting.
This one is the approved enrollment file, quarterly, and it moves on its own clock.

The Quarterly Drop Nobody Announced
Headline first: the extract grew from 2,978,925 enrollment records to 3,030,022, up 51,097, up 1.72%. Distinct NPIs went 2,541,258 to 2,576,755.
