Only One of Medicare's Enrollment Queues Is Getting Shorter
CMS rebuilt its enrollment files Friday morning, ninety minutes after this letter went out. Physicians waiting on an initial application fell to 4,582, down for ten straight builds and off 45.6 percent from July. Non-physician practitioners went the other way to 7,676, a 23-month high, and the same two regulations govern both. Also in the window: 324 providers lost ordering authority in that build, and the 265-page Medicare Advantage and Part D rule CMS filed Friday afternoon gets a publication date of Tuesday.
If you run credentialing, Medicare spent this year giving you two different answers depending on who you were enrolling.
