Three of Your 2027 Rate Books Are Running Early

All four CY 2027 Medicare payment final rules are sitting at the Office of Management and Budget right now, and three of them got there weeks earlier than last year's did. Home health arrived 33 days ahead of its CY 2026 pace. Run last cycle's transit times forward and the outpatient rate book publishes in the first week of November instead of Thanksgiving week. Also this week: one new rule in the queue, and the paperwork that counts Medicaid disenrollments.

Nothing about your 2027 Medicare rates is public yet. Where those rates are is.

Every rule CMS writes passes through the Office of Management and Budget before it publishes, and OMB posts its inbox: the rule, the stage, whether it is economically significant, and the date it arrived. On the morning of October 7 that inbox holds 16 CMS rules.

Four of them set next year's prices.
